We saw this unusual, dome greenhouse at a NGS open evening a couple of weeks ago in London. The main drawcard of the Clapham garden at this time of year is a sea of 1,500 tulips, but the late spring meant that they were not yet in bloom (it is open again this week for tulip viewing). The visit was not wasted as we were able to admire this lovely greenhouse. Steve took these images on his iphone.
Any Yorkshire based readers out there? Two of my favourite artists – Emily Sutton and Angie Lewin – are exhibiting watercolours and prints at Godfrey & Watt in Harrogate until 2 December. If you love Emily’s work as much as me but your purse says ‘no’, she has designed a Christmas range for Betty’s tea rooms including a tea caddy and mug in her lovely nostalgic style.
Another for the one day file… I do very much like a nice, traditional greenhouse ala Hartley Botanic and I fell a little bit in love with them at RHS Hampton Court. But I have to say, even more I just love the look of home made DIY greenhouses made from old windows and doors. The more ramshackle, the better.
