Abigail Brown creates beautiful hand made textile birds from her studio at Cockpit Arts, Holborn in London. Pictured here are a Robin, Quail, Blue Tit, a Golden Oriole and a couple of her colourful ‘standard’ birds. She exhibits her work around the world as well as selling her creatures through her online shop.
I’m tempted to commission a black swan…
Oh, I love these patterns by Josef Frank. When we moved into our current flat, we agonised for some time in Liberty’s textiles department about whether to use a rather brightly coloured fabric by Svenskt Tenn for our living room curtains. Unfortunately the budget would not stretch, but one day…
Frank’s work was often inspired by field manuals and botanical dictionaries as well as drawn directly from nature.
He found his inspiration for this pattern in the books Butterflies of America and Insects of America.
The inspiration for this pattern came from The Green Book of Birds by Frank G. Ashbrook.
You can view the full range of Svenskt Tenn products on their website, and there is a fascinating biography of Josef Frank here.
